The NCOA Medical Fund was
created to promote the health and welfare of dependents of noncommissioned
and petty officers and, in particular, to aid such persons faced with
catastrophic medical problems. Grants awarded from the Fund are awarded
to assist with medically-related incidental expenses (not actual medical
bills) and have been awarded to individuals from all five branches of
the Armed Forces to include the National Guard and Reserve Components.
Membership in NCOA is not required to apply for assistance from the Fund. Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis by a Board of Trustees comprised of active and retired noncommissioned officers. The Board serves at the request of the NCOA International Board of Directors and receives no remuneration for their service. The NCOA Medical Fund is a certified Texas Non-Profit Corporation, Federal ID # 74-2885797. The Fund is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation and, as such, all contributions to the Fund are deductible to the extent provided by Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are used to provide grants to those in need and no administrative or overhead expenses come out of the donations received. Thanks to your generosity, the NCOA Medical Fund was able to award grants to assist
a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant from Steilacoom,
Washington with the purchase of a barrier-free lift system to assist his spouse who
suffered a spinal cord injury.
a Navy Chief Petty Officer and his family from Pensacola, Florida
residing in the Temporary Lodging Facility at Lackland AFB with transportation expenses
during treatment.
an Army Master Sergeant from Columbus, Georgia with expenses related
to the funerals of his wife and son.
an Army Reserve Sergeant First Class from San Antonio, Texas with
transportation and food expenses being incurred to take his son to Houston for spinal
surgery. Without the assistance and support of our members and chapters, none of this would have been possible. We urge your continued generosity to help insure that the NCOA Medical Fund is able to continue providing this much-needed means of financial support for the members of our Armed Forces.
