NCOA Family, March is a very special month as we recognize and honor both Women’s History Month and our Vietnam Veterans. I ask each of you to take a moment to reach out to a woman who has served—whether on active duty, in the reserves, or as a military spouse supporting those who defend our freedoms—and thank her for her service and sacrifice. Their strength, resilience, and commitment have played a vital role in the defense of our nation. March 29 is officially recognized in the United States as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, honoring the more than nine million Americans who served during the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1975. This day marks the anniversary of the departure of the last U.S. combat troops from Vietnam and the return of the final American prisoners of war on March 29, 1973. It is also a great time to visit and support our brothers and sisters at a local Veterans Service Organization (VSO) in your community. When you see a Vietnam Veteran, please take the time to thank them for their service. If they are a member of NCOA, remember to recognize them with an NCOA Vietnam Veteran Medallion. I have personally had the honor of presenting several of these medallions to Vietnam Veterans during my cruises, and each presentation has been a truly humbling experience. March also gives us an opportunity to recognize the countless contributions of women throughout our history. Women have served in uniform, supported our military families, strengthened our communities, and quite literally given birth to the leaders who have guided our nation. Their sacrifices and contributions can never be forgotten. As we continue to live in uncertain times around the world, I encourage everyone to stay informed and prepared. Be mindful that global events can quickly impact things such as fuel prices and the availability of everyday supplies. Taking simple steps now to stay prepared can make a difference later. Finally, our NCOA Annual Conference is right around the corner, and your attendance is strongly encouraged. This year’s conference promises to be one to remember. Our Executive Director and team have worked tirelessly to make this a first-class event for our members. I sincerely hope you are making plans to attend. I look forward to seeing many of you in Norfolk, Virginia. Respectfully, Garry McClure Force Master Chief (RET), USN President, Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA) [email protected] Strength in Unity® Stay connected: Check out our official channels on for the latest updates, events, resources, and content.
