From the Desk of the Chairman, January is the beginning of a new year and in a short seven months, America will celebrate its 250th Birthday. We will also meet in Norfolk, VA for our Annual Conference and Vanguard Award Dinner. New Year’s Day is a day where many of us watch college football, eat more celebratory foods, then recover from New Year’s Eve activities. Along with this, we begin to think about how we want the rest of the year to play out. In January we also remember civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. who is recognized for peacefully confronting the issue of race relations in this country. I gifted two new memberships for Christmas, it’s never too late to jump on board. Some chapters are offering reduced membership fees and, in case people haven’t compared, the NCOA dues are cheaper than most other organization dues. You can make a difference today. Recruit a regular member or sign up a family member into the auxiliary. If you have any ideas or suggestions, contact Headquarters or contact me at [email protected]. I can assure you that your leadership will take note. Strength in Unity & Leadership by Example Robert Barnett MSgt, USAF (Ret) Chairman, Board of Directors Non Commissioned Officers Association From the Desk of the Chairman, December 7th is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, a day that sparked our official entrance into World War II some 80 years ago. Winter officially begins on December 21st, and Christmas Day is just a few days later December 25th. I hope you stop to remember Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. As well as I pray you have a blessed Christmas, the day that we celebrate the birth of Jesus, and a day where families often gather around for some good food and quality time together. For Christmas this year, I am going to give the gift of a NCOA memberships to a few co-workers. You can do the same for a co-worker, friend or even someone else to help grow the association. A one-year regular membership is only $30, and an auxiliary membership is only $20. That is less than most veteran organizations! This year we have something new, the NCOA Christmas ornament for only $12 that will make a great gift or addition to your Christmas decorations. If you have any ideas or suggestions, either contact headquarters or contact me at [email protected] and I can assure you that your leadership will take note. From your Board of Directors, we wish each one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Strength in Unity & Leadership by Example Robert Barnett MSgt, USAF (Ret) Chairman, Board of Directors Non Commissioned Officers Association From the Desk of the NCOA Chairman of the Board of Directors Robert Barnett The Board of Directors has finally finished with our Proposed Changes to the By-Laws. We wanted to get these proposed changes out to the General Membership now instead of you seeing them first at this year’s Conference. We have spent a lot of time working hard on this and hope you will find the recommended changes a move in the right directions for the Association. The Board will be accepting any comments until 01 May 2025. This will give the Board time to make any needed changes so they can be voted on in July during the Conference. During our Business Meeting additional comments can be made but hope by providing this now, we can reduce the number of comments later. You can email me directly at [email protected]. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Strength in Unity! Robert Barnett
MSgt, USAF (Ret) Chairman, Board of Directors Non Commissioned Officers Association From the Desk of the NCOA Chairman of the Board of Directors Robert Barnett I hope that all of you had a wonderful Holiday season. Congratulations to the Navy Midshipman on their win in college football over the Army Golden Knights. In January your Board of Directors will be finishing up changes to the NCOA Bylaws and Awards Manual. You can look for them to be posted on the website for your review, giving you the opportunity to provide comments. This will allow more time for review unlike in the past when changes were presented at the Annual Conference leaving members very little time to review these items before being asked to vote on changes. The Board does want your input so please take the time to read content and respond. With the Annual Conference now just 195 days away, I hope you are making plans to attend. For the first time, the Conference will be held in the Virginia Beach area which is exciting. The NCOA Staff will be making a trip to the area in the spring looking for great opportunities around the area to share with the rest of us. As always, I am open to any questions you have about the Board. You can reach me by email at [email protected]. Strength in Unity!® Robert Barnett
