Chairman Terry Haines is joined by Rogue Chapter trustees Ron Kohl and Ken Wilson to present a WWII Medallion to Army veteran Chet Danforth. The presentation took place at a Bi-Monthly veterans' breakfast in Medford.
Rogue Chapter member Fred Crowder provided WWII Medallions to his cousins Carolyn (Crowder) Wright and Sharon (Crowder) Johnson. Carolyn's father was Navy veteran William Crowder and Sharon's mother was Army veteran Altha Searle. Fred also obtained a Medallion in honor of his uncle FC1 Samuel Warwick Crowder who died on the USS Oklahoma BB37 during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Chapter Trustee Barbara Weatherill (left) presents World War II Medallions to the family members of three World War II veterans - Jessie Stober - honoring her uncle George Edward a paratrooper with the rating of TC5, Kathy Walsh - in honor of her father Joseph E. Dalton who served in the South Pacific, and Karen Haltiner - honoring her father SSgt Kenneth K. Kenney who served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. MSG Michael Francis, US Army (Ret), Vice Chairman of the NCOA Five Star Chapter in Michigan, and MAJ Michele Corker, US Army (Ret),Nurse Practitioner, present the NCOA World War II Veteran Honor and Remembrance Medallion to 102-year old TSgt John Cox who served in the US Army Air Corps. Cox's daughter Sheryl Cox-Bellono commented, "Such a wonderful honor. Dinner at Deluca's was fabulous.. and the restaurant picked up the bill.... Wow.. Thank you Mike, Michele, and Deluca's. BIG THANK YOU to Sidney Korvun for setting this up!!!" Korvun, a member of the NCOA Gateway Chapter in Florida, is a former classmate of Cox-Bellono. The Riverview Terrace Retirement Home in Roseburg, OR, was the setting for the recent presentation of an NCOA WWII Medallion by Ron Dukes, Chairman of the NCOA Umpqua Valley Chapter (second from the left), to WWII Veteran Ray Sees.
The Medallion presentation was done in conjunction with the presentation of a motorized scooter to the facility by the local Vietnam Veterans of America Group. WWII Veteran Ms. Anna Mae Robertson proudly displays the NCOA WWII Medallion presented to her by her daughter Janice Banyard.
The Rogue Chapter is on a mission to recognize as many veterans of the Greatest Generation as possible. The NCOA Huntsville/Redstone Arsenal Chapter had the privilege of presenting 6 WWII Medallions to residents of the Tutt Fan Veterans Home in Huntsville, AL on Dec 7th. NCOA Rogue Chapter continues to seek out World War II veterans to ensure they receive the NCOA WWII Medallion in recognition of their service. Rogue Chapter recently hosted a holiday social. This social was the chapter's first one to be held over a year due to Covid. There were 22 in attendance as it was a rainy day. Awards were given, donations to charities presented, and a great meal was had by all. Merry Christmas from the Rogue Chapter! |
