March is a very special month for Women and Vietnam Veterans.  I ask that you reach out to a women that served in an Active, Reserve or spousal role in support of our freedoms, and thank them for their service. 

On March 29 we take time out to honor our Vietnam veterans for their service and sacrifice.  It's a great time to visit our brothers and sisters at a local VSO in your area.  Remember our Vietnam Veterans with an NCOA Medallion! I have had the honor of presenting several Vietnam Veterans during my cruises.  Just enjoy the day and remember.

The month of March being Women's Appreciation Month,  I would like to share with you a few glass ceiling breaking achievements over the past year:

• The First Women Coast Guard  Commandant:  Admiral Linda Fagan.
• The First Women Navy Aircraft Commanding Officer:  Captain Amy Bauernschmidt promoted to Rear Admiral.
• The First Women Chief of Naval Operation and First Women on the Joint Chief of Staff: Admiral Lisa Marie Franchetti, U.S.Navy
• The First Women pilot flying with the Navy Blue Angels:  Katie Higgins Cook, Major, U.S. Marine Corps.

Our NCOA Conference is right around the corner and your attendance is truly requested.  I sincerely hope that you are planning to attend this years Annual Conference this year.  It will be here before you know.  I believe this years Conference will be one to remember.  Our Executive Director has pulled out all the stops this year and it will be a grand event.  See you there!
