Members of the NCOA Umpqua Valley Chapter 1308 traveled recently to present a WWII Legacy Medallion to Tech 6 Leroy Hopkins at his home in Yoncalla, Oregon. Leroy was a WWII combat medic in New Guinea and the Philippines with the 6th Infantry Division, with 18 months in combat. The photo on the left is a photo of Mr. Hopkins and his wife Carol and a shadow box of Leroy Hopkins’ military achievements…to include the Army Bronze Star Military Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Philippine WWII Liberation Medal, Army WWII Occupation Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Citation and Combat Medic Badge. Pictured in the photo on the right is Mr. Hopkins in front and from right to left in the back are Ron Dukes, Chapter Chairman; Don Adams, our newest chapter member; his wife Betty; and son Tom Adams, the Commander of the Oakland American Legion 152.
