WORLD WAR II VETERAN HONORED

It’s another beautiful day in the Umpqua Valley of Oregon…and another opportunity to honor one of Myrtle Creek’s WWII veterans with the NCOA's World War II Legacy Medallion!

Pictured in the center is Oscar Flynn, a WWII veteran who served in Germany and France from 1944~1946 with the U.S. Army’s tank division.  On the right is Mike Farnworth, who gathered a group of friends to honor Mr. Flynn’s military service.  Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1971~1976 as a hospital corpsman and pharmacy technician.  He was embedded in Guam at the Naval Air Station, helping with Operation New Life and triaging refugees and setting up camps.  Also pictured is Ron Dukes, NCOA Umpqua Valley Chapter Chairman and VVA Chapter 805 Member.” (Photo by Rebecca Snyder)”
